Family & Mini Session Style Guide
I often get a lot of questions about what to wear to portrait sessions so I’ve created this simple style guide to help you look and feel your best whether that be during your family or mini session!
For patterns, look for light and delicate patterns, versus bold and contrasty ones. Light florals, eyelet patterns and light stripes photograph beautifully. Neutrals are good starters that you can add a pop of color to: creams, tans, whites and grays - add a little color with muted pinks, blues and greens. I recommend finding the parents outfits first.
For all the mamas, dresses really help to capture that classy and fun look! For the guys, I recommend simple henleys, button up shirts or sweaters. For pants, I suggest khakis, tans or light colored pants or jeans. You can layer and add accessories with a jacket or blazer. Depending on the weather, for the kids you can add vest for the boys or a headbands for the girls. Most patterns are ok, however, tees with logos or graphics do not work well for portraits.
Don’t forget about shoes! Remember that you'll want to be comfortable as we may move around a little bit, but try to stay away from character themed shoes and athletic shoes.
